THE BENEFITS OF ALUMINUM

In addition to its practical properties, aluminum has a modern appearance and the material pairs well with others such as wood, textilene and rope, allowing you to easily create your own style in your outdoor space.

• Powder Coating: This is a process that involves baking a layer of protective dry powder onto the aluminum surface, enhancing its longevity against environmental conditions and its overall appearance.

• Weather Resistant: Aluminum is highly resistant to corrosion and rust, allowing you to leave your furniture outside year-round without worrying about damage from the elements.

• Low Maintenance: A simple wipe-down with mild soap and water is usually all that's needed to keep it looking clean and new. Aluminum doesn't need to be treated or sealed like wood, so you won't have to worry about staining or painting it regularly.

• Durability: Aluminum is a durable material that can last for many years without losing its structural integrity or aesthetic appeal. It won't warp, crack, or splinter like wood, and it's not susceptible to insect damage.

CLEANING ALUMINUM

Create a soapy solution using dish soap and warm water. Wet a soft cloth with the soapy solution and wipe the aluminum until it's clean. Rinse the aluminum with water and let the surface dry.

THE BENEFITS OF TEAK WOOD

Teak wood is a stunning natural material valued for it’s beauty and durability with properties that make it perfect for prolonged outdoor use. Teak is a dense hardwood that contains natural oils that repel water and insects and resists warping and splintering, making it ideal for outdoor furniture. Teak furniture requires some special maintenance apart from the occasional cleaning. Additionally, teak is resistant to rot, simplifying maintenance.

As the wood is exposed to the elements it will naturally undergo a weathering process that causes it to take on a beautiful silver-gray patina. Normal use may result in small, hairline cracks (referred to as checking) appearing in the wood; this does not detract from the quality or the life span of the wood. This is all part of the normal characteristic of teak.

KETTLER prioritizes the sustainable and legal cultivation and harvesting of teak wood. Our teak patio furniture is certified with the SVLK or FSC® mark.

CARING FOR TEAK

We recommend that you gently clean all KETTLER Teak products with a cloth, sponge or soft brush, water and a mild soap solution. Cleaning should be performed a couple times a year or more if needed. Always clean in the direction of the grain. This prevents the wood from drying out, extending its lifespan.

• Do not use a pressure washer.
• Do not use an abrasive cleaner or cleaning tool.
• Allow the product to “breathe” to prevent molding. Furniture covers are not recommended.
• Do not paint or varnish as it will not adhere to the wood and will chip or peel off.
• Use of oils may cause discoloration or mildew.
• Avoid storing chairs underneath teak tables as the natural oils may seep through the wood and cause staining.
• Do not store any items (i.e. placements) on top of teak for long periods of time as the natural oils may seep through the wood and cause staining.
• Do not apply any cleaning or protecting product to the teak for the first 3 to 4 months.

THE BENEFITS OF TEXTILENE SLING

Textilene is a woven fabric where polyester fibers are woven around an acrylic thread to form a strong fabric. It's durable, colorfast, maintains its shape and has a long lifespan. This makes it ideal for patio furniture that's used outdoors and exposed to the elements.

CLEANING TEXTILENE SLING

This low maintenance material can be cleaned using a soapy solution of mild dish soap and warm water. Remove any large debris with a soft bristle brush. Wet a soft cloth with the soapy solution and wipe clean. Rinse with water and let the surface dry.

TIPS FOR CLEANING OUTDOOR CUSHIONS

One of the best ways to keep outdoor fabrics looking good is to brush off dirt and debris before it becomes embedded in the fabric and to address messes and clean spills soon after they occur. The quicker you clean spills, the easier they can be to remove. 

Prepare a solution of 1/4 cup mild soap per gallon of lukewarm water. Use a soft bristle brush to clean, allowing the cleaning solution to soak into the fabric. Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap residue and allow fabric to air dry. 

For best results when cleaning upholstered pieces, clean the entire surface area of the fabric, from seam to seam, instead of rubbing the fabric in a circular motion in order to avoid water rings and residue.

FOR MOLD OR MILDEW

Our fabrics do not promote mildew growth, however, mildew may grow on dirt and other foreign substances if not removed from the fabric. To remove mold or mildew: Prepare a solution of 1 cup of bleach and 1/4 cup mild soap per gallon of water. Spray the solution on the entire area and allow it to soak into the fabric for 15 minutes. Clean the entire surface area with a sponge, clean towel, or very soft bristle brush. Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap residue. Air dry.
